How to Make Your Weekend Flowers Last Longer
A simple guide to keeping your blooms beautiful all week long

Did you receive a bouquet of flowers over the weekend – maybe from us or another lovely florist? There’s nothing quite like a fresh bunch to brighten your space and lift your spirits, but a little TLC goes a long way when it comes to helping your flowers last.

Here’s our quick and easy guide to caring for your blooms so they stay fresher, longer – whether they were a gift from someone special or a treat to yourself (because you absolutely deserve it!).

1. Take off the wrapping

If your flowers are still dressed up in their wrapping, it’s time to let them breathe! Wrapping left on too long, even our lovely paper, can cause the foliage and petals to sweat, leading to them fading faster than they should.

2. Use a clean vase

This one’s super important – any lingering bacteria in a vase can shorten the life of your flowers. So give your chosen vase a good clean, fill it with fresh, cool water, and add the sachet of flower food that came with your bouquet.

3. Trim the stems

A little trim works wonders! Cut about a centimetre off the bottom of each stem at an angle. This opens up the stems and helps them drink more efficiently. Do this before placing them in the vase – and use sharp scissors or snips for a clean cut.

4. Find the perfect spot

Display your flowers somewhere they’ll bring you joy every time you walk past. Just be sure to avoid placing them in direct sunlight, near a radiator or heat source, or in a spot with constant draughts – these can all cause your flowers to wilt prematurely.

5. Keep the water fresh

Check on your flowers every few days and top up or change the water as needed. Fresh water = happy blooms! If you’ve got more flower food on hand, add a little when you refresh the water.

6. If you received one of our Blooming Cantastic or Floral Teacup designs...

Good news—these are even easier to care for! Simply make sure the water is topped up regularly, and you’re good to go. There is no need to transfer them to a vase—just enjoy them as they are.

7. Remove any fading blooms

As the days go by, some flowers may naturally start to fade. Gently remove these as they wilt to help the rest of the bouquet stay looking fresh and lovely for as long as possible.

8. We recycle packaging!

If your flowers came from us and you’re wondering what to do with the wrapping, we’re happy to help! Many of our packaging materials can be reused and recycled, so feel free to drop them off at the shop if you’re passing by.

9. Fresh flowers every week

We’re back open each Tuesday from 10 am with a new delivery of seasonal blooms, ready to brighten homes, lift moods, and bring some floral joy to your week.
