How to Revive a Drooping Houseplant
5 Simple Steps to Bring It Back to Life!
We’ve all been there — you glance over at your favourite fern or fiddle-leaf fig and realise it’s looking more droopy than dazzling. The good news? Most houseplants are surprisingly resilient. With the right care, your leafy friend can bounce back in no time.
Here are five things to check if your houseplant looks like it’s giving up:
1. Check the Soil
Dry and crumbly? Time to water. Soggy and heavy? You may be overdoing it. Plants hate extremes — aim for consistent, moderate moisture.
2. Reassess the Light
Many houseplants prefer bright, indirect light. If yours is languishing in a low-light corner, it might be reaching for the sun. Try rotating or relocating it.
3. Consider Repotting
If the roots are circling inside the pot or peeking through drainage holes, it’s likely root-bound. A new pot just one size up, with fresh compost, can make a world of difference.
4. Dust the Leaves
Dust isn't just unsightly — it blocks light and reduces photosynthesis. A quick wipe with a soft damp cloth will let your plant breathe again.
5. Don’t Give Up Too Soon
Plants are amazing healers. With a few small changes, an unhappy plant can perk up within days or weeks. Keep the faith and be consistent.
